It references horizontal movement / digital age of Tokyo. The glow of moving light reminds me of traffic moving through projected billboards and high-rise hotels. In some ways this photo reminds me of Sophia Coppola's "Lost In Translation" when Scarlett Johansen lets herself go, and enjoys the true splendor of Tokyo in all its neon glory.
I thought I could see a picture from that movie in the background of the other photo. You did something with that scene another time too. Will you be entering this one into a show at the Whitney?
